Hosanna-Tabor Lutheran Church and School proclaims Jesus Christ as the risen Lord and Savior. In accordance with the scriptures we reach out and share the message of Christ with the community around us through worship, Christian education and social ministries. While our primary mission field is our community of Western Wayne County, Michigan, we also reach out to the world around us through various missions efforts. Below is a summary of some of our recent activities. Cows for Kenya - We support the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya through Lutheran World Relief's program that provides pastors and other church workers with livestock to provide for their physical needs so they may concentrate on spreading the Good News of Christ. Lutheran Bible Translators - We are assisting a new missionary family, Rev. Rich & Maya Rudowske and their 5 children, as they prepare to go to Africa to translate the Bible into local languages. Learn more about the Rudowskes on their website www.rudowskes.com LAMP - Sunday School offerings are being directed to the Lutheran Association of Missionary and Pilots to teach kids in remote northern areas of Canada and Alaska about Jesus. Lutheran City Ministries - A special monthly offering is taken to assist the Detroit inner city ministry. Lifespan and AAA Crisis Pregnancy Center - Several times each year, Hosanna-Tabor conducts baby showers and gives financial support for two Christian agencies that minister to women and their unborn children. Hurricane Katrina Relief - Hosanna-Tabor will provide financial and physical support for several years to two LCMS Southern District churches, Christ Lutheran Church in Chalmette, Louisiana and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Biloxi, Mississippi. Moscow, Russia - Hosanna-Tabor Lutheran Church partners with Rev. Matthew Heise in Moscow. Pastor Heise is a missionary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Please see his newsletters to see how the Lord is working in Russia. Lutheran World Relief - Hosanna-Tabor provides for physical needs of the Lord's people all over the earth through LWR. Each month an average of 5 quilts are created, the 60 quilts are sent to Lutheran World Relief in October. A clothing drive is held in the fall and then shipped LWR to support those in need. Seminaries and universities of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod - Hosanna-Tabor helps to train workers for the harvest field by conducting food drives and giving financial support to the Concordia universities and seminaries. Specifically Hosanna-Tabor has sent 38 sons and daughters of the congregation into full-time ministry. There have been 12 pastors, 24 men and women called to the teaching ministry, 1 deaconess, and 1 lay minister. |
